My girl and I decided, after months of seeing the "Smashburger" sign while frequenting our favorite sushi place, to give it a try. We picked up an online deal and drove towards "The Smash". Smashburger was a change of pace in the world of burgers. The burger was delicious and wonderful, the patty was juicy and tender. I was just happy as can be with that slice of beef. The toppings were crisp and fresh. Just a king among burgers. The fries are a whole other story. First you get to choose sweet potato or standard potato. Then they coat them with a helping of rosemary, olive oil and garlic. Simply put, they are a work of art...feeeenominal!!! Smashburger, overall, was a good deal with a great taste. They put up a great fight with Max and Erma's, which is my favorite burger place to date.

They have a good black bean burger. If ordering off the menu know that this is a spicy option. You can substitute the black bean patty, however, on their other options. The sweet potato fries are great. The regular fries are good. The shakes are pretty amazing. If you get a full meal--sandwich, large fries and shake--you're talking $8-10. So not cheap. But since it's counter service you're not looking at a heavy tip either. A fine place to hit every now and again.

This place has taken my #1 slot for best burger in STL. 1st off, living in N.County, I had quite a drive to get there, but it was more than worth it and will do it again. Me and my BF both ordered the Classic, but I had the Smash & he had the Big Smash. The burger was very juicy and had a distinct seasoning that separates it from other burgers. The Smash sauce is a very good compliment to the overall taste. Really enjoyed the Smash Fries, the rosemary & garlic seasoning was awesome! Not overwhelming; it was just the right amount. This place is a great addition to STL.

Attending a private party at Smashburger was a blast! I enjoyed my food so much, I couldn't go home to my SO empty handed. I ordered an Ultimate Cheeseburger, Smash Fries and a Gooey Butter Cake Shake to go. The staff that made our party so special, was equally as nice when preparing my to go order. They truly provide service with a smile. Being a city dweller, I was concerned about the long drive back into the city with a carry out order. No problem, it was still warm and the shake was awesome. Actually I was hoping to get the shake, but no such luck. For once the SO's sweet tooth was as sweet as mine. As the SO devoured the burger & fries, they received rave reviews just as I raved about the ones at the party. We both talked about wanting to revisit Smashburger but dreaded the long drive to St. Charles. To our surprise, we learned a new one is opening in Chesterfield very soon and that drive we can deal with. Five Guys, Smashburger has you beat.

Had very high expectations from the Yelp reviews, and hearing a couple of Facebook friends rave about this place. I came in about 7:30 on a Saturday night; first off line was long and slow to move as place is not set up to handle the volume of business they were getting. After waiting in line 10 minutes, I order my food, find a cleared table amongst the many uncleared ones, and 10 minutes later, I get my food. I had a BBQ Bacon Cheddar burger - it was OK, but I could have gotten a similar meal at Steak n Shake for $5 cheaper then they charged. I guess for the price, I was really expecting something better; Ive had better burgers at hole in the wall bars then I did here, and I wouldn't say the food is as good as Red Robin, and is about the same price, and Red Robin is a much nicer sit-down dining experience, as is Steak n Shake. The Decor in the place is nice, couldn't even tell it used to be the Quizinos I ate at three times a week when I ran the store two doors down. The Smashfries weren't bad - sort of like the Olive Oil & Rosemary, and score one for them for having bottles of Fitz's Root Beer on hand and using Maull's Sweet n' Smokey on the burger, Will I eat here again - maybe someday, but wouldn't go out of my way to eat here. Overpriced, Overhyped, and Overrated... Also, can't stand fast food type joints that have a tip container on the counter, when you are getting no more service then at Mickey Ds...

Outstanding St Louis burger..pretzel bun is amazing. Shakes are made with Haagen das ice cream and are excellent as well. People serving are well led and managed...you can tell. Clean restaurant Overall very enjoyable experience

First Smashburger experience and it was a great one! I ordered the baja chicken sandwich. Best chicken sandwhich ive had in a long time. My boyfriend got the St.Louis burger which I sampled also and it was delicious I will be back. A bit pricey for a counter service, but food was good.

I loved my build a burger here. Small burger with tomato, mustard, and pepper jack cheese. It wasn't too pricy and cooked well, just how I like it. Their fried pickles weren't over cooked or too soggy like most places. The ranch that went with it was decent compared to most places I have tried. It was a fast, easy burger for a fair price. What more can you ask for?

  • Ghislaine M.

Underwhelmed. We got the BBQ and the Baja burgers and the flavors were just bland. They needed more sauce and the fries tasted like steak n shakes...l guess we just expected more. Probably won't be a place we remember to return to. The staff was nice though and they had cherry coke so all was not lost.

After reading a bunch of hype on Twitter, I knew I had to try this place. I gawked at the menu outside for a good 5 minutes before finally walking in and placing my order. The first thing I noticed was that the interior is very nice and clean, and I liked that upon entering, the design of the restaurant immediately leads you to the front counter. I ordered the St. Louis burger, which came with grilled onions, mushrooms, and provel cheese. For sides, I got an order of chili cheese fries and a gooey butter cake milkshake. Can you get more St. Louis than that?! While waiting for my food to arrive, I wondered to myself- "How will this compare to Five Guys Burgers 'N Fries"? Both restaurants are pretty similar in price, though Smashburger has a ridiculous amount of variety in terms of customizing your burger (you can get a fried egg as a topping, if you want!) as well as side options. Needless to say, I was not disappointed. The burger was incredibly juicy and full of flavor, probably one of the best I've had in town. The chili on my fries had a nice, hearty flavor, and I was also impressed by the milkshake - never had a shake with actual pieces of gooey butter cake in it! So would I go back to SmashBurger? I'd definitely return, though probably on an occasional basis. My meal came to around $15, which is pretty high for a fast-casual restaurant. I'd love to see them offer some sort of combo deal where you get fries/drink with your meal for a slightly lower price, rather than everything being a la carte.

This place has super good fries and burgers. One star off for the price and the big burger is still too small.

  • Daniel F.

Not sure I see the excitement here - similar burgers to what one would get at a diner or Steak-n-Shake, admittedly larger and with more topping choices. Everything is a la carte, so a small-ish cheeseburger, fries, and drink are roughly $10. I think 5 Guys offers more bang for the buck, and there are lots of other places to go for good burgers.

I am sooooo thankful that Smashburger has finally arrived in StL! The last time I had one was in 2009 when I was visiting Denver, Colorado. These burgers are impressive! I decided to create my own, and included bacon, bleu cheese, sauteed garlic mushrooms, and lettuce, tomatoes, and pickles. Served on an egg bun with a side of smashfries, this was a perfect dinner that hit the spot. On a Friday night, the place was packed, but the service was quick. Totaled less than 10 minutes for the food to be brought to my table. And they serve beer and wine! Next trip I will definitely get the gooey butter cake milkshake. Service is good, and staff are polite, friendly, and helpful. I will be back for sure :)

From what i understand there are two of these in town, and since i have come to be a fan of the recent burger boom, I had to do a little Smash'n for myself. To some a burger just needs to be a burger. Simple, juicy, tender beer served on a fresh bun topped with a few favorites. Others prefer what i call the "Themed" burgers.. think Red Robin where you may find a Hawaiian burger next to another named after a particular city. I'm somewhere in between since i like to keep it simple but oozing with flavor. I decided to go all in during my quest and created my own Regular Smash. I topped my burger with Avocado, Grilled Onions, Chipotle Mayo (i think), lettuce and tomato all served on a Pretzel Bun (a trick i learned from another burger joint in town). Not bad, the burger sort of reminded me of a larger Steak 'n Shake patty, and i like that but I was expecting to seduced by a gourmet patty of some sort. The price point may have saved the day when it came to my burger. Since i'm the one that created it, maybe i am partially to blame. I'm going to try the St. Louis Burger next to really get an idea of what Smashburger is all about. Two really great things about this place.. the Smash Fries are freakin' awesome. One serving did just fine for the two of us and they use a little olive oil and rosemary that i wasn't expecting. Awesomeness! The second was how they responded to an unfortunate hair incident. My girlfriends black bean burger (which actually was a Black Bean Burger) came with a surprise in it.. We weren't upset, just was hoping they'd take care of it. Thankfully without asking or questioning a thing, they replaced the burger refunded my money and gave me a free burger coupon for next time. Score one for management, we will be back.

First time here, I will be going back. The burgers are quite good. Very juicy, very fresh with quality ingredients. I had the "Ultimate Cheeseburger" and would get it again. The staff was friendly and they got people through the line efficiently. It is unfortunate that this is wayyyy out in St. Charles as I live about 20 miles away.

My dear Smashburger, oh how I love thee! I give you 5 stars for the best fast-food burger in town. Every single little thing you have fed me has been absolutely smashing! Your made-to-order burgers are always crispy on the outside and dripping with juice on the inside- just how I like it. (Insert "That's what she said" joke here) The smash fries are perfectly balanced with a coating of olive oil, garlic, and rosemary- thank you for offering such a deliciously seasoned french fry! Oh, and those fried pickles. . . .well done, my friend! And let me not forget the gooey butter cake Haagen Daz milkshake that I managed to shove in after eating an ultimate smashburger and fries. . .you should be very proud of yourself for devising such a decadent means to an end. Have I mentioned that I love you yet?

I was invited to the soft opening of Smashburger last night, and while my expectations weren't terribly high (a chain in St. Charles? Riiiight), I was actually really impressed. The menu is varied, with lots of burgers (of course), chicken sandwiches, and salads. There was also a nice variety of sides, but I'll get to that! The BBQ and Bacon burger immediately caught my eye. Combine my fave condiment with my fave burger topping, and you really can't go wrong! This burger featured Maull's BBQ sauce (nice local touch), bacon, and onion straws on top of a juicy patty with an egg bun. It was quite amazing! I could have used more BBQ sauce, but maybe they skimp on that for a reason; the lack of sauce allowed the flavor of the burger to shine through. I just had a few bites, because I was saving room for my next burger! The St. Louis burger came highly recommended, so despite my trepidation at eating something with provel on it (the STL burger is topped with provel, green peppers, and mushrooms), I took the plunge anyway. And...WOW. This burger was even better than the BBQ and Bacon one (and that's saying a LOT!). I hate provel on pizza, but on a burger it's surprisingly GOOD. That, paired with the peppers and mushrooms made for an extremely flavorful burger. And did I mention it was on a PRETZEL BUN?!? Pretzel buns are my new favorite thing. So good. It took a TON of self control to limit myself to just a few bites! Along with my burgers, I sampled two different types of fries: the original smashburger fries, and the sweet potato smashburger fries. Both were topped with a rosemary flavoring. The regular fries were hot, crispy and delicious. The sweet potato fries, however, weren't my favorite. I think the rosemary didn't really pair well with the sweet potato flavor, and they ended up tasting a little funny. Smashburger also has a nice variety of milkshakes and malts. Along with your standard flavors like chocolate and vanilla, they also offered what may be my new favorite shake flavor ever. GOOEY BUTTER CAKE. Yes, a gooey butter cake milkshake. Smashburger uses the same yummy gooey butter cake found at Park Avenue Coffee and creates a rich and decadent shake out of it. If you don't like burgers, come here for the shake. You can thank me later. I'm really impressed with Smashburger. I think this might top 5 guys as my favorite burger place ever. Now just build one that's not all the way out in St. Charles and I'll be a happy girl. Oh, one more thing: Smashburger serves beer and wine! You can find local brews from Schlafly here. That's always a plus.

I smashed the shit out of that baja burger today for lunch. Jalapenos, spicy cheese, chipotle sauce, and guac on a toasted onion bun, what could go wrong? Nothing! Smashburger has got to be my new favorite place in the Saint Charles/Peter's Vortex of no return. Def a spot to hit for work lunch on days after binge running or binge drinking, Smash is where it's at. Those sweet potato smash fries were the best I've ever had. Ferreal. Better go early, we got there at 11:30 and just after we sat down, there was a line up to the door. All those sad line people watching me smash a burger, made me feel bad for like a second. Smashburgerworkers even come by to refill your drinks, totes awesome when you're scrounging on a spicy baja burg. Next time I'm back to try a shake!

When I saw it in the paper, I had to go. I have been to one over in Denver and then saw they had one in St Charles. I was hooked and told my husband and we immediately mapped it and went that night. To our surprise they also have local things such as provel, Fitz root beer and cream soda, and gooey butter cake shakes. I had the cream and Larry (husband) had the root beer. I had a create your own type chicken with mauls BBQ and provel on pretzel bun. Larry had the 1/3 lb burger with provel, smash sauce, pickles. We loved it and in the past 3 weeks, we have been there 4 times. I had their 1/4 lb-er on one of the times with provel, BBQ, and chipotle mayo. Haven't tried the gooey butter cake shake as of yet, but I am going to have to now. I might have to stay in the fitness center a few hrs longer, but I think it will be worth the price to pay to have one.

I really like this place. The interior is nice, food is good, just a little pricey. I've only had their black bean burger, but I would definitely recommend it. I'm not a huge fan of their fries, but the burgers are good. I like that you can choose the bun; I like the pretzel bun the best. Service has been fine and friendly. My boyfriend and I have been a few times, and will definitely continue to go, but it is best to wait and go if you have a coupon.

Expensive, looks like a tornado went through as most of the tables needed busing. As far as the food goes it was a decent burger but greasy. Both times I ate here I had that greasy stomach feeling for hours. $12.25 for a big smash with bacon and cheese (they claim 1/2lb but I doubt it), onion straws and soda. I don't get the hype.

Dropped in on a whim, what a great surprise! Ordering is simple, side portions are ginormous! Burgers are great, chicken was great. Will definitely go back!

Love me a good burger and this place has them. Their beef is spiced very flavorful and their fried pickles are nice and crispy. I had the Spicy Baja burger with fries. This was a tasty burger but you have to like a spicy kick. It starts with a chipotle bun (I've never seen a place that served a chipotle bun) topped with a grilled to near perfection patty full of flavor then pepper jack cheese, guacamole and chipotle mayo. So good. Service was great, everyone was very polite. They have a create your own burger so you can create something if you don't like what they already have. Very good burger place I would recommend to anyone. Their shakes looked awesome too but i didn't get to try one this time.....

I absolutely love the food here but the service seems to be getting worse every time I go. My order is never correct and last time they were so understaffed the trash was over flowing from the trash cans and there was basically no one who could take the time to empty them.

  • Amanda M.

Wow! I am speachless. What an amazing place. I got the Spicy Baja with guacamole, jalapeños, lettuce, tomato, chipolte bun, spicy chipolte spread. I also got the sweet potato fries which were the best I've ever had. Definitely going back to try the St. Louis burger on a pretzel bun??!

  • Sean F.

I'm not sure what I was expecting before going to smashburger, but I was hoping for a red robin type place, only a local non-chain place that knows how to cook up a good burger. What I found instead was a fast food restaurant designed similarly to your local chipotle, which is fine just not what I was expecting. I tried the baja burger and thought everything from the fresh lettuce and jalapenos (non-pickled) to the fresh bun already put it way above any common fast food chain. However, the meat was so over-flavored that it reminded me of eating a jimmy dean breakfast sausage patty. I would go back if someone else was driving, but it's not a place I would seek out. I think St. Louis has plenty of other burger joints with a similar style that are more convient and put out a slightly better product (read Five guys).

So far, the best I have had in this genre. Prices are not so hot, but I would go out of my way when I am do for a cheat meal. Love this place!

  • Jason T.

Well, I guess it's ok. I was slightly unimpressed by the sheer greasiness of the burger. No, not juicy... greasy. Big difference. Not to mention it was smashed so thin that you could barely call it a burger. I got the build your own with American cheese & bacon and smash fries. I will give them props for the fries. Crispy, hot, and the Rosmary seasoning was pretty good. Unfortunately, the grand experience was underwhelming... I really don't see what all the fuss is about. I'd say it's a pretty pricey meal just to say you ate at a place with a cool name. There are much better burger joints that are cheaper.

I went there for lunch last week and got a fried chicken sandwich, St. Louis style, on a pretzel bun, with a side of fried pickles and it was fantastic! The chicken was crispy, the portion of veggies and cheese on the sandwich was just the right amount, the pretzel bun was fresh and soft. The pickles and the dipping sauce were perfect. I am more impressed with this place every time I eat here. Kudo's to Smashburger!

  • Ashley U.

The smash fries were great! I also had the gooey butter shake, it was pretty good. I couldn't really taste the gooey butter cake, most of the chunks sunk to the bottom. The burger was really good, five guys is still my favorite burger. Smash sauce wasn't bad, not what I expected, more mustardy.

  • Jeffrey S.

I've been here a few times and always enjoyed it. The burger toppings are great (selection and quality) but the patties are just average. Expect a thin burger with fairly good flavor. They have some good sides. The wife likes the fried pickles and i'm a fan of the sweet potato fries. The milk shakes are great and it is nice that they serve beer. Overall I like Smashburger and will continue to return. The only thing holding it back are the burger patties.

I LOVE burgers, everywhere. I didnt get a body like this by not liking burgers. Id have to say this was a pretty poor performance. I hadnt heard of this place, and saw it driving, thought Id stop in. The burger was not good. It was so very very salty. I also had the fried pickles, they also were very salty, and it was just clumps of undercooked batter, and the pickles were on the side. It was pretty terrible, as for chains, Ill take 5 guys anyday over this.

  • Larry H.

Visited Smashburger shortly after the lunch crowd on Tuesday. We both had the BBQ Bacon burger. The bacon was tasty and fully cooked, the burger was warm but not hot. We did not find anything impressive with the burger. The fried pickles were very tasty and right out of the fryer. They would get 5 stars. We were in the area and decided to give them a try. We would not make a special trip nor would we recommend to friends or family. We did note several inconsiderate parties that felt they needed to "stake" out a table before ordering their food.

I really like this place. High quality burgers, good fries (ahem Five Guys), unique offerings and toppings. You can customize your burger any way you want. Eaten here twice and loved it both times. Recommended.

Really good and really fresh. My only complaint would be the kids meals. If you have an older kid (I'd say 7+) with a big appetite, you may want to order them a larger size chicken strips. They were really good, but was not quite enough food for my 8 year old daughter. I had the Club burger with bacon and avocado. It was great and the perfect size. Hubby had a special "Vegas" burger with onion straws and a fried egg. He loved it. We all split a large fry. Overall it was good and we will be back. Although, I do think it is a little pricey for what you get.

  • LaShandra S.

We stopped here on the way home (been driving for 6 hours) with a party of 6. I thought the kids meal price of $5.29 was kinda high, but then the amount of food they got made me feel it was with it. My husband had the Buffalo Smash and I had the St Louis Smash both burgers were hot, juicy and flavorful. The also were a nice size and although the fries were just ok, there were a bunch! Service was quick and friendly. My husbands only complaint was his strawberry shake was more of a "slushy" consistency than a shake.

What an awesome burger I just had! Do you like fresh and different toppings? Well then, you may be in for the Spinach, Cucumber, and Goat Cheese Smashburger. On a multi-grain bun, this burger was packed with flavor. The goat cheese was melted from the warmth of the burger. The spinach and cucumbers were oh so crunchy! I will be ordering this again and again, and again. The staff is very pleasant. They brought our food over to us correctly, and came to check on us at least once. For a restaurant that does not expect a tipping. I appreciate the work they go out of their way to do. I am into local buying an think it's great that Smashburger uses local meat from ranching families in the state. This is so good for our local economy and the farming families. Keep up the good work guys!

The St. Louis burger is the best burger I've ever had. Pretzel bun, grilled onions, green peppers, provel. Delish. And those Rosemary fries! Good God.

The sweet potato smash fries were so good. They are cooked in olive oil and Rosemary. I got the mushroom Swiss burger and yes it was greasy but it was excellent! My daughter had an Oreo milkshake and it was actually really good.

I had a great time at the smash burger yelp event in Chesterfield so we stopped by to pick up some take out to bring to the grandmother this evening. Having tried everything on the menu, I went for the new Spicy Jalapeno Baha Burger. First bite had my face prickling and my mouth on fire. Too much spice for any normal person and we soon discovered the culprit was unseeded, raw jalapeno slices. They were also in the baha salad. After picking them out the flavours were pretty good and the sauce had a great taste, once unmasked by the awful burn. I'm impressed they have vitamin water on their soda machine and friendly servers, just need to switch up the jalapeno prep. One last silly thing that most people going to a burger joint for takeout won't encounter was, when you order a salad, you get two separately packaged small salads with two dressing containers. Unless they were just randomly out of main size salad to go boxes, this seems pretty wasteful.

  • Liv C.

After seeing such good yelp reviews, our first visit to Smashburger was a little bit of a disappointment. Our burgers and sweet potato fries were ok, but nothing exciting. I felt satisfied, but not anxious to eat here again. The real problem was with the employees. We stopped in for an early lunch and it was pretty slow. The employees were congregated in the back, bashing other employees so loudly that we sat as far away as possible and were still disrupted. Unprofessional and unappealing.

  • David W.

eh, nothing too special, fries had some random taste to it (rosemary I think), sweet potato fries were a lot better. Just another chain burger, with above average quality meats and normal orders. Looking for a standard burger place? come here! price is a bit above standard, around 10+ dollars for just a burger fries and a drink didn't get to try their shakes but I heard they were pretty decent.

As a longtime Yelper and attendee of several tasting events including the one this past spring at the Chesterfield location, I thought for sure that I would experience the same high quality service of the Smashburger closest to my house as I did at the Chesterfield location. Let me preface my experience with a bit of background info...I just had surgery on Monday morning and I am on total rest and not able to drive. My hubby was kind enough to call and ask me what I wanted for lunch and he would go pick it up if I ordered. I was having a massive burger craving and decided that Smashburger was the ticket. I did not order online because there are not spaces or options for specialty notes for your order...you can only add or leave off items. When I called the first time I was disconnected...no problem. I called back and the young girl who answered the phone had a very miserable tone to her voice. I proceeded with my order...Spicy jalepeno baja burger with the guacamole on the side, bacon cheeseburger no ketchup, regular fries, spicy fries, and fried pickles. She repeated the order back to me and said it would be ready in 5-10 minutes. I told her to hold off having it ready for another 15 minutes since my husband wouldn't be there until then and I didn't want it to get cold. She said we'll have it ready when you arrive....hmmmmmmm. When he arrived, not only was the order wrong (no guacamole on the side), but she charged me and extra $1 for guacamole that never made it into the bag. She obviously does not know her menu items! Additionally, i paid extra for the new spicy fries and ended up with the Smashfries. The piece of leaf lettuce that was on my burger looked like it came off the bottom of somebody's shoe after stomping through the rain! Note to self and others, do not get the fried pickles for takeout...they were soggy and overly greasy! Of course, everything was cold or overheated under the warming lamp. I very rarely leave a 1 star review, but I think this location needs a wake up call and some retraining of their staff. I will continue to patronize the Chesterfield location, but it will be a good long while before I even consider going back to the Zumbehl location.

Get the The St. Louis Burger; provel cheese , grilled peppers, and a pretzel bun. A mouthwatering mess. Get extra napkins. Also, they have beer.

Very delicious! I like that you can customize your burgers with different ingredients that are unique (most of them at least). I went with my boyfriend when I was visiting him for the weekend and we both thought the food was delicious!! He's already been back a number of times, and I will too once I visit again! It's somewhat pricey for a burger-type meal, but I think it's worth the extra bucks.

What a yummy hamburger, plus shoestring fries and a strawberry shake. Pure heaven. Reminds me of when I was a kid and we used to go to the local counter top for burgers, fries and a shake. My kids also enjoyed the place. Will definitely be coming back.

Smashburger gets my vote and I will return! I ordered the black bean burger with swiss and mushrooms along with a side of sweet potato fries and a drink. When I received my order they had given me regular fries and when I explained that I ordered sweet potato fries they let me keep the plain ones as well! What a treat! I love french fries! These fries are incredible with the seasoning. You have to try them! The service was great and everyone always had a smile! The staff was attentive and offered assistance whenever they could see I needed something! Great job! I was only to eat half the burger and fries and so I had to get a doggy bag; it made a great lunch the next day! I was raving about this place to a friend and so I know I will be back soon! I need to try that gooey butter cake shake! I meant to get one on the way out, but I was too full to even think about it. It'll happen next time. Thanks Smashburger for the great food and good memories! You certainly made all of us visiting that night feel special!

Smashed. Sweet. Potato. Fries. I could eat 3 trays of these for dinner and nothing else. Just thinking about them, even at 9 pm after a big dinner, my stomach is gurgling a little. Upon my first visit, I savored a mushroom & swiss burger, it melted in my mouth. I am always comparing non-soda options at eateries, and the black tea at Smashburger keeps me coming back for more. On top of great food, we've had excellent service and the employees have always been tolerant of our tons of questions. Smashburger is going on my list of regulars!

Like @Jakie W. said I smashed the shit out of the Classic Big Smash burger and Smash Fries. I just love the way the names roll off your tongue and into your mouth... awkward. I loved everything about this place, The burger is definitely how I make mine at home plenty of seasoning and not dry. In fact it was dripping with juice and it wasn't grease either, I actually found my self dipping my fries in the pool collecting beneath my burger. The toppings were fresh and full of flavor which is better than limp soggy tasteless toppings. I forget what the menu said was on the smash fries, I think it was olive oil and rosemary and garlic. Never had anything like that before so it was like a flavor party in my mouth and the Smash Bros. were invited. I would say that it is expensive but if you compare it to Steak N Shake I would say it is a better deal. I think the food is top notch and has better flavor and you get so much more for what you pay for so it ends up feeling like yeah I paid a little more but man was it really worth it. Awesomeness all around! Smash On Smashburger!

When it comes to burgers, I am super picky. I want the bun toasted, the meat fresh, and the produce straight from the garden. This place has all that and more. The customizable burgers are unique and delicious! When I visited I just had the basic cheeseburger ( I cant remember the exact name), but it was fabulous as were the fries, and STAFF! Also, very family friendly! I love a place that I can bring my 3 year old daughter and dont have to be completely embarrased as she chows down and uses overly expressive noises to show her delight. Just in case you are curious though, she gave it a "THATS SO YUUMMMMY in MY TUMMY MOM!!!!" We will be back.

Decent burgers, and the outside of this place smells heavenly. I tried a bite of Sean's bacon cheese burger and the flavor was great. It was really juicy! The fries were good too but nothing out of the ordinary. The reason why I am not giving it more stars? Kind of expensive for the size of what we got and they are kind of limited on their bottled sodas...only root beer and cream soda? NEED GINGER ALE!!! Seriously if they started to carry Fitz's ginger ale, I'd be all up on this shiat. I'd be going there once a week. This place sort of reminds me of Larkburger in Boulder, CO, but IMHO I liked Larkburger much more. But maybe that's just me. It's probably pointless for me to write that in there b/c I bet most people reading this have no idea what I am talking about lol! Sean said he liked it but agreed with me that it was kind of overpriced. Maybe I'll have to go back and try other burgers too. It's conveniently in the same plaza as Sushi AI which means Sean can have a burger and then I can have sushi, hehe. Win win. The staff here are uber friendly too. Sean said the girl taking his order was "way too damn happy." LOL. Like I said I didn't hate this place it just wasn't that earth-shattering for me, but I guess sometimes it's the simple things that are good. Sean still prefers Red Robin though. He's such a burger connoisseur!

Eh. Multi-grain bun was... Lacking enthusiasm, fries are identical to steak n shake, all in all, its just steak n shake without the variety or chilli 5-way

I work in the Dierberg's plaza where this Smashburger is located. I eat lunch there often, and every time I do, they have the most wonderful customer service! The restaurant manager goes out of his way to ensure that you are having a pleasant dining experience, and often waits on you personally. I can't remember the last time that has happened to me at a lower-priced restaurant. The rest of the staff is always pleasant as well. Great food, clean environment, friendly staff and I highly recommend the Gooey Butter Cake Milkshake!

Normally I love Smashburger and the spicy baja was great just as I expected it to be. But seriously what is up with shoestring cut smash fries!? Horrible. Still, i have to give the staff credit for cooking us burgers 15 minutes before closing time.

The main reason I'm not giving Smashburger a higher rating is their prices. Twice I have eaten lunch there and it was very good, juicy burger and crispy fries. However it's not worth the price. Five Guys and Christy's give more burger and fries for your buck. They redeem themselves a little with email coupons if you sign up on their website. I will go again if I have a coupon but it's hard to pay $12 for burger, fries and drink when you can get the same at Steak N Shake for $6.

The burger was juicy and good. The fries were pretty dry and salty.

This place is awesome. The service is fabulous; talk about some super-friendly people. The burgers are absolutely delicious, and I love the variety of toppings you can choose from. I got positively giddy over all my choices. There's a "build-your-own" option to ensure you get all your favorites on there, and then some pre-created ones if you're just feeling hungry and not creative. Hooray for Fitz's bottled sodas, and they serve wine and beer here, as well, which I can't decide whether it works here, but I guess it's cool that they offer it. The only downside was that I had such slippery ingredients on my burger (such as the caramelized onion and avocado) that as soon as I picked up my burger it completely fell apart. :( Guess that's my fault, though. But it tasted just as delicious in pieces. They have sweet potato fries! Always exciting as far as I'm concerned. They had a friggin' gooey butter cake shake, which I'm definitely going to have to try next time. Sounds amazing. I think this place is much better than Five Guys, but unfortunately, too far out of my way to make a regular spot. Come to the City, SB!

This place has good food. The portions are fair and the prices are very reasonable. Try the smash sauce very unique and good! The employees need to learn to stop gossiping in front of customers, besides that a very good place!

Definitely a 5 star burger joint! We think it beats 5 Guys burger. In comparison it is hot and tasty for about the same price. Not the drama 5 Guys presents either and 5 Guys on Olive has slipped a lot.

Great place with a friendly staff who are willing to help out any newcomers. The burgers are cooked to near perfection and their menu choices are extremely varied and interesting. However, I wish I could get a shake with my burger and sweet potato smash fries without feeling guilty.

Here's is my review of a perfect hamburger: It's a hamburger made out of meat on a bun with nothing. Add ketchup if you want I couldn't care less. Here is my review of a Smashburger: If you actually eat a Smashburger without all the bullshit they cover it up with, you'll discover is more Turdburger than anything resembling a good burger. Done. Not that it matters to you people, who will lap up Smashburgers without a hint of irony. Do you taste that St. Louis? It's the flavor of America dying. Ron Swanson, Food Critic in July of 2011

I had heard of several people talk about Smashburger but hadnt had a chance to try it up until a few weeks ago. The food is good, you are able to build your own burger by choosing a type of bun, meat, and toppings. But to make the experience even better add the Gooey Butter Shake, its amazing!
